Cultural Heritage
Residents of Hardy prioritize the preservation of the land and its history, as well as the people who have shaped the culture, and that is precisely why the area still possesses the same charm and enchantment it had in the 19th century. Located at 119 East Main Street, the Hardy History Museum takes visitors a step back in time with a collection of stories, photographs, and physical pieces of Hardy’s past that serve as reminders and memories of what once was. You can visit the museum to see Hardy’s first printing press and first bank safe from the Old Farmer’s Bank of Hardy, or take a stroll around the historic Main Street area to visit the buildings and homes on the National Register of Historic Places. In September, Hardy celebrates the town’s heritage with Homesteaders Day, a time when residents present a “day in the life” of 1883 Hardy area pioneers with old-time events and traditions.
